Breaking News: ADV UK cancels titles

Mania/AnimeOnDVD are reporting that ADV-UK are cancelling a host of titles, which wasn't wholly unexpected given the drastic changes that have taken place to their catalogue in the US.

Not much of a surprise, but ADV Films UK has formally nixed numerous upcoming releases from their schedule as noted by their distributor, the Lace Group. Some titles were due to street this week but with the problems that ADV Films has had with Sojitz in the US, the fate of these titles weren't entirely unexpected. The canceled titles are:

1. Pumpkin Scissors Vol 2
2. Ah! My Goddess Vol 2
3. Kurau Phantom Memory Boxset
4. Coyote Ragtime Boxset
5. Welcome to the NHK
6. Red Garden Complete Collection
7. Pumpkin Scissors Vol 3
8. Ah! My Goddess Vol 3

Earlier this summer, ADV UK/Lace distribution had announced the cessation of individual volume releases for Kurau Phantom Memory and Red Garden, in preference of boxset releases for both series. Now with those boxsets cancelled, collectors of the series have truly been left in the lurch. These titles have been picked up for distribution in the US by Funimation, so impatient purchasers do have the multi-region import option. However, with Revelation Films as the official distributor for Funimation in the UK, it's a matter of waiting for an announcement from them to see if they will release these titles here, or if they will be picked up by another distributor.
