Kings of Europe
Introduction
There is nothing in the world to match the feeling of the great European nights at Anfield - it's often described as one of the most magical atmospheres and experiences in football. With 5 European Cups and 3 UEFA Cups, Liverpool FC are the UK's most successful club in European football. That's a fact.
This DVD features home games from the European Cup, UEFA Cup & Champions League, spanning from the 1960s to the present day. Here are the matches featured:-
Inter Milan, 4th May 1965
FC Bruges, 28th April 1976
St Etienne, 16th March 1977
CSKA Sofia, 4th March 1981
Auxerre, 6th November 1991
Barcelona, 9th April 2001
Roma 19th March 2002
Olympiakos, 8th December 2004
Chelsea, 3rd May 2005
Arsenal, 8th April 2008
Video and Audio
Sadly, the video is only a 4:3 full frame transfer. Whilst this is to be expected from the first 5 matches (pre-widescreen era), it's not really acceptable for the last 5 matches, given that they were all home games recorded in widescreen (if my memory serves me correctly, and I watched them all being broadcast).
DD2.0 stereo for the sound which is perfectly adequate.
Conclusion
Football is everywhere. And Liverpool FC are one of those teams who have their own TV channel, so you can watch club-related shows for most of your day, and you can probably see most of these matches there.
But if you want to see highlights of the matches featured all in one place, then this DVD is the place to do it. It's a shame that the video isn't widescreen where appropriate, but this is a nice selection for fans of the club. You might choose some different matches to those presented here, but they are a reasonable representation of European nights at Anfield.
