Midweek Anime Update (Updated)
Manga News
I told you that Expo time would unleash news stories upon the world faster than I could keep up. Well, Expo hasn't even started and the news is already trickling out.
Eagle eyes on Anime UK News have spotted among the forthcoming releases that Manga Entertainment have the complete 12 episode series of Shigurui: Death Frenzy scheduled for an August release…
Quote:
At the beginning of the Edo Era, when people enjoyed a time of peace, Lord Tokugawa Tadanaga holds a fighting tournament. In the past, matches were fought with wooden swords. This time, real swords will be used. One-armed Fujiki Gennosuke and blind Irako Seigen will fight each other in this match. Both are disciples of Iwamoto Kogan, who is known as Japan's greatest swordsman. Each of them are determined to prove himself the successor of Iwamoto's school. However, there can only be one champion. So begins a story of intertwining fates, conflict, and strange destinies.
We'll have to wait and see if this title gets through the BBFC unscathed. It's one of those titles…
MVM News
It seems that MVM can never wait till the Expo itself before letting their news burst forth. They're almost like kids with Christmas presents trying to keep them secret. Recently I mentioned that they had Gunparade March coming this summer. Now, even more eagle-eyed viewers at Anime On DVD have spotted a trio of new acquisitions, set to be announced formally at the Expo.
Morbito: Guardian of The Spirits is a 26 episode series, originally released in the US by Media Blasters.
Quote:
Balsa the spearwoman is a wandering warrior, who takes on the task of saving lives, in atonement for a past sin. On her journey, she happens to save a prince, and is tasked with becoming his bodyguard. And he is going to need one, for his own father, the emperor, wants him dead.
Aquarion is also a 26 episode series, originally released in the US by Funimation.
Quote:
In a distant future, humanity once again is facing the threat of the "Shadow Angels". Mystical creatures who returned after 12.000 years of absence. They attack human cities and kidnap their inhabitants in order to drain their "prana" (vital energy). To fight against them, youngsters with special powers from arround the world were gathered and trained to pilot the "vector machines", three ancient ships that together form mankind's ultimate weapon, "Aquarion". The story revolves mainly arround Apollo, a teenager rumored as the reencarnation of Apolonius, a fallen angel who fought against his own kind to protect mankind. Few believe it could be true, but the fact is that dispite his untamed and reckless nature, he proved to be an invaluable asset in the battle against the Shadow Angels.
and finally, and much anticipated, X, the 24 episode series that was originally released in the US by Geneon.
Quote:
It's the year of destiny and 15 year old Kamui Shiro, a powerful psychic, has returned to Toyko after a 6 year absence. He returns to protect his childhood friends, Fuuma, and Fuuma's younger sister Kotori. But destiny and fate are haunting Kamui and pulling in himself and his loved ones. It is his destiny to decide the fate of the world and mankind, no matter if he wants the role or not.

Update! Claymore Clip Frenzy
At the last minute I get some links that I simply must share. Claymore is the Babes, Swords and Sorcery epic that is coming to the UK courtesy of Manga Entertainment in a few weeks. I could tell you to go pre-order it now, but you'll have to wait for my unfettered gush of a review coming along soon. Until then, feast your eyes on these blood-soaked puppies...
