Monday Monday out in August
A HEARTWARMING COMEDY DRAMA ABOUT A VERY DYSFUNCTIONAL WORKPLACE
Boasting a stellar ensemble cast that includes Faye Ripley (Reggie Perrin; Cold Feet), Jenny Agutter (The Invisibles; Spooks), Holly Aird (Torn; Waking The Dead), Morven Christie (Lost In Austen), Neil Stuke (Reggie Perrin; The Bill), Tom Ellis (Harley Street; Eastenders) and Laura Haddock (Honest), MONDAY MONDAY revolves around the ever-eventful lives of a group of employees working at the head office of a supermarket chain who are forced to relocate from London to Leeds when the company hits hard times. For Sally (Christie), Personal Assistant to the Human Resources Officer, the move is a chance to make a fresh start and move on with her life after being dumped by her boyfriend just before their wedding. Unfortunately, it also means remaining at the beck and call of her totally incompetent and alcoholic boss, Christine (Ripley).
A misunderstanding on her first work night out leads Sally to the wrong bar, where she meets the handsome and charming Steven (Ellis). Following a highly embarrassing and disastrous one-night stand she hopes never to see him again. However, the next day at the office provides an unpleasant surprise. Steven is the Personal Assistant to the company's new, high-flying Chief Operating Officer, Alyson (Aird). If that wasn't bad enough, Sally discovers that Steven is also Alyson's boyfriend and now she's become the third partner in a rather tricky love triangle. Meanwhile, Sally's flirty co-worker and flatmate Natasha (Haddock) is about to have some office-based man troubles of her own.
A light, feelgood comedy-drama in the tradition of popular series such as "Cold Feet", "Pulling", "The Office" and "Cutting It", MONDAY MONDAY, with its cast of engaging characters and their easily relatable workplace shenanigans, is a tonic for anyone accustomed to that "Monday morning feeling".
MONDAY MONDAY (cert. 15, tbc) will be released on DVD (£17.99) by Fremantle Home Entertainment on 31st August 2009. Special Features include behind the scenes material, deleted scenes and outtakes.
