Red Stripe Offers Advice for all 'Arising Artists'
The UK's biggest hunt for emerging artists hits the road this month with the first of 27 nationwide gigs. The Red Stripe Music Award (RSMA) supported by Last FM, will be kicking off its fourth series with a gig at the legendary Windmill in Brixton on Friday 22nd January.
The regional showcase has already attracted the attention of over 700 bands, all keen to play at a top music venue for the chance to win spots at some of the UK's best loved festivals including The Great Escape.
RSMA has also teamed up with music industry professionals, Arising Artist, to offer discounted consultancy rates on A&R, promotion, publicity, marketing, management and general business management for all who enter via www.redstripe.net
Arising Artist's UK head, Meredith Cork, has worked with a number of top artists over the years including the band Garbage, Marcella Detroit (Shakespear's Sister) Dot Allison and Merz, and is one of a number of people offering music industry insight from the inside.
"Arising Artist supplies the tools that give people a fair chance of making it in the music industry," says Cork.
"Artists and Management have a lot more control than they used to and with this is more responsibility and the need for knowledge. We've put together a fantastic team from the cream of the industry, who can advise on everything from A&R, radio and TV promotion, PR and contracts, to putting together a tour and how to market this effectively. We believe that by providing impartial and independent advice, talented musicians will be able to take control of their careers and fulfill their ambitions."
Paul Brazier heads up the Red Stripe team and is thrilled to be working with Arising Artist. "Red Stripe has long been a supporter of music of all genres and the Award is about providing emerging artists with an appropriate platform to be heard. Working with the consultants at Arising Artist will help us achieve that goal and ultimately empower musicians everywhere."
