Review of World Is Not Enough, The: Special Edition (James Bond)
Introduction
This disk starts to impress you once the travel to the main menu screen starts by moving through some sort of tunnel with the title words coming towards you, this takes you into a chamber taken from what looks like a scene from the film and displays the menu options at this point. This film features once again cast members of previous 007 adventures and includes some stunning action sequences I did enjoy, starting with the high speed boat chase on the Thames in London, ski chase against flying ski sleds and also a shootout at the caviar plant to name a few.
Video
The picture quality is very clear and is tested well through light and darker scenes within the film, the colours are bold and realistic making actor`s skintones just right. I haven`t noticed no dropouts or white flecks anywhere and therefore cannot fault the transfer at all.
Audio
The audio soundtrack to the film is a good mixture of loud explosions testing the bass range out, clear effects to all the action and almost sounds DTS but ain`t, the dialogue is still clear and can be heard well even through what`s going on at the time and the score to the film is well suited to the scenes especially when the fast scenes are presented and the music really kicks into high gear! An example here would be at the start once Bond launches his boat, I also like the fast paced ski chase score too, David Arnold does it proud once again!!
Features
I was slightly disapointed at the lack of features on this disk though for a top film like Bond. There`s 2 audio commentary`s, along side a trailer and some behind the scenes glimpses of various sequences within the film. There is a documentry present , but that`s nothing to shout about as it only lasts aprox 15mins other than this there is Garbage`s music video. The region 2 version of this does boast the making of the Thames boat chase and a few more bits which wouldn`t have gone a miss here.
Conclusion
I do think though that this one is the superior of the 2 versions, it impressed me on first looks and so I`m not going to knock it too much and would say it`s worth having.
