Review of Path Of The Dragon, The
Introduction
This is a film as much about how Bruce Lee brought martial arts to mainstream, Hollywood cinema as well as his untimely death.
There`s lots of `kung-fu` fighting and some very interesting information about the history of the martial arts.
Video
This is a documentary and, as such, looks rather dated and old - like the National Geographic films the Discover channel like to show, all grainy and a bit washed out.
I suspect it might have something to do with the original being NTSC.
So not top notch, but clear and clean enough, couldn`t see a difference between this and the VHS version mind you.
Audio
Somewhat muffled and 70`s sounding, again, think anout what an old American documentary sounds like.....
But then that`s what it is. The commentary is by Bruce Lee`s daughter and is very well done.
The musical soundtrack has seen better days, however.
Features
Not many, there`s a brief section where some actors talk about Lee`s death, a filmography and a fairly inetersting article about the Shaolin Temple. The dvd menu is simple and works.
Conclusion
Not a disc you buy for the technical aspects, this is one you will only be interested in if you are a martial arts fan.
If you are, then it`s worth getting as the content is very good and informative. The fighting is excellnt fun, Bruce Lee is great, there`s stuff by Jackie Chan and others......
If you like martial arts and want to know how it came to hollywood, or are intersted in some of the techniques used to film their films or are simply a Bruce Lee fan, then this is for you, if not, you might be bored :)
