Review of Top Trumps Interactive Quiz
Introduction
Ah Top Trumps. A childhood favourite for those of us of a certain age, and a very simple premise.
Basically, you get some cards on a subject (e.g. cars). You then have to try and win your opponent`s cards by guessing which attribute on your card (e.g. horsepower, top speed) will be better than theirs. If you win, you get their card and another go. If you lose, they get the card, and it`s their turn to pick the attribute.
And like many other things, it`s now been turned into a DVD game. It`s another Xmas stocking filler DVD, and the number of DVD Games on the market this Xmas is even bigger that last year. You get two for the price of one here, with a modern footballers game and a football legends game. And you can play like you used to play, or you can also play a football trivia quiz instead. You also get some short clips and biographies of various footballers.
Video
Nothing spectacular, functional, comfortable. The footage of footballers is limited to that for which rights are available, so don`t expect to see all of those classic moments.
Audio
Again nothing spectacular. The voice over is provided by Barry Davies, a veritable voice of football broadcasting.
Conclusion
Like most DVD games, you`ll either love them or hate them. It`s a lot of clicking, waiting, clicking, waiting, etc. It`s an interesting alternative to a pack of cards, but is it really necessary? The market is now flooded with these DVD games, and whilst I enjoy a good trivia challenge, I`m getting a bit fed up of DVD games.
So instead of buying this, go out and invest in some good old fashioned Top Trumps. You`ll probably find that they are easier to use than the DVD game! And a damn sight cheaper! Bah humbug!
