Review for The Road is Jericho - Epic Stories & Rare Matches Y2J

Chris Jericho is generally regarded as one of the greats in the wrestling business. Whether we are talking about his time in ECW, WCW or in WWE, he is one of the best of all time. He is a 9x Intercontinental Champion, 5x Tag Team Champion, 6x World Champion, plus (as he will readily tell anyone) he was the first Undisputed Champion unifying the WWE and WCW Titles in 2001. He has had many comebacks over the years and every time he does he just gets better and better.

In this set The Road is Jericho we join Jericho in his limo as he journeys to do a gig with his band Fozzy. On the way we watch with him a number of matches from across his career and he comments on his thoughts and feeling about them. Some he openly admits he has never watched, some he admits that he has no memory of and at times even he jokes about how is it possible he could forget wrestling Stone Cold Steve Austin with Mick Foley as the Special Guest Referee?

Now, one of the great things about this set is that if you do own his previous one he doesn't just rehash all the other matches. Instead these are rarities and matches that you may have forgotten. I am a huge Jericho fan, but even I have to admit that I did not recall a majority of these matches and that makes it all the more enjoyable. However, I do wish they would stop spoiling the outcome of the match before it is played. Despite that, all of the matches are excellent and I can't think of the last time I have watched a set like this where I have sat and watched all the way through without fast forwarding through some bits.

Highlights include an incredible match between him and Dean Malenko from WCW which just showed how awesome their cruiserweight division was. A wonderful match between him and The Rock at the Royal Rumble is simply perfect and showed just how great he was in that Heel role. Another classic match was a Last Man Standing Match against Shawn Michaels. This is from a UK Raw and as Jericho explains they used the Black Taxi that WWE would use for the set simply 'Because it's there' and it certainly made for a cool visual.

Two other matches that are almost worth the price in itself is the amazing match against CM Punk at Extremem Rules and the Steel Cage match against Bray Wyatt. Both of these matches showed just how great Jericho was at giving back to the business and I feel that his work with Wyatt helped elevate him more than anything Wyatt did with Cena that year.

I usually don't like these sets that are Talk-Match-Talk-Match, but I think this one worked. It actually did feel like I was watching it with Jericho and maybe if they had included some optional commentaries on some of the matches then this would feel even more so like that. It is difficult to find anything that I didn't like about the set and even the revelation of match results was fine, simply because the matches are that good.

The Road is Jericho is a great set for Jericholics and fans of great wrestling alike. If you are a fan of his and you have the previous set (and who doesn't?) then this is a great accompaniment. If you are wondering where all his classic matches are then you are looking in the wrong place. This is a set that shows that even in just some random match he is still one of the greatest of all time. So buy this set and you will never EVVEEERRRRR regret it AGAIN!!!!
