Review for WWE Survivor Series 2015
Twenty-Five Years ago a character entered the WWE at Survivor Series. It was a character who would instil fear into whoever he was in the ring with. He was of course... The Gobbedly Gooker!
Ok, yes The Undertaker debuted too. This being his twenty-fifth year in the WWE I expected more and I got less. With the injury to Seth Rollins changing the whole thing into a tournament makes sense and keeps with the 'surviving' motif at least. However, many of the matches were just there and didn't have the spark that this PPV (one of the original Big Five) should have had.
Roman Reigns against Alberto Del Rio really was a case of (who do we think WWE will put their stock in. The man they have been pushing for nearly two years or the man who only came back a month or so ago?). This match was ok, but very predictable.
Dean Ambrose against Kevin Owens was a fantastic match. This was mainly because I couldn't say who they would go with. Both men deserved to be in that title picture, though it could be argued it would be a bit early for Kevin Owens. Great action and certainly one of the highlights of the night.
There were two Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Matches one on the pre-show and one on the main PPV. The Pre-show had Goldust, The Dudley Boyz, Neville and Titus O'Neil against The Cosmic Wasteland, The Miz and Bo Dallas. This was a pretty good match with some great moments. It was just a shame that one of the people eliminated really should have been the one who was allowed to shine in the match.
The second one featured Ryback, The Usos and the Lucha Dragons against The New Day, Sheamus and King Barrett. I don't know why, but this match really didn't work as well. The teams were fine and made sense, but it just felt a little off. Enjoyable, but not something I would watch again.
Charlotte against Paige for the Divas Championship was actually a pretty good match. It was not perfect by any stretch and I still think that Charlotte is overselling everything, but compared to previous matches, this was pretty good. I enjoyed watching it and both got a great match out of each other.
Tyler Breeze against Dolph Ziggler was a filler match. I'm not sure why it was there other than to show off the gorgeous Summer Rae, but it didn't mean anything.
Considering this was the twenty-fifth anniversary of The Undertaker. His match with Kane against The Wyatts was a little lacklustre. Maybe because it only lasted a little over ten minutes and maybe it should have been an elimination match, but it just was a nothing match. It wasn't bad and certainly showed how awesome The Brothers of Destruction can be, but really when it's two on four, you expect a bit more and I expected there to be a point to all this or for it to be leading up to something. Especially with the awesome storyline going into it.
Finally, if I thought the last match was short, here was one even shorter and even worse because this is the main event. The main event of a PPV should be at least twenty minutes. This was less than ten. It was fine, in a way, but I do feel that this was match was just there for what happened after the match. I won't spoil it, but I do feel this is one of the stupidest things WWE have ever done. This is not how you end this PPV and really it should have been a lot better.
My biggest issue with this disk is despite having extra matches, what I was actually wanting was at least a short retrospective on The Undertaker what with all the talk of the Anniversary. But nothing is given, which is a shame. Survivor Series 2015 was fine, only a few matches stood out and really that is never a good thing. I enjoyed most, but not all of it. You may want to get this, but it's certainly not a PPV I would choose to watch again.
