Let's not get too serious

Pommy Bastard was given to me, as a Christmas present, from an Australian mate, no doubt due to my English heritage, and I found it hilarious.

It's a book that will no doubt offend some people, paticularly those who were born in the late fifties and somehow missed out completely on everything the sixties and seventies had to offer by way of alternative life experiences. They probably are a little bitter and twisted, however, if you pick this book up and go with the flow I guarantee it will have you aching with laughter.

The main character, Archie, is portrayed with brutal honesty, he's a hero and a cad with more flaws than Harrods and that's what I like about him. Anyone who reads Pommy Bastard will relate to some parts of his character although they may choose not to admit it. Having travelled to Australia on a "ten pound Pom voyage" I certainly felt an affinity with Archie but don't tell anyone. O yes and I also had a nice little midlife crisis around 40 something, there you go I've said it!

I suggest you get hold of a copy, relax with a good glass of red and time how long it is before you blurt a mouthful over the lounge, due to laughter or possibly shock tinged with envy.
