Review for The Lovers

The Lovers is part of  John Connolly's Charlie Parker series.

Unusually for Chrlie Parker, this story finds our hero pretty downbeat, having lost his PI licence and focussing on a mystery in his own past to investigate.

I love pulling the strands of John Connolly novels together and this book didn't disappoint.   I found myself mulling over how the death of Charlie Parkers Father could relate to the young terrifed girl...but all becomes clear.

It's quite dark, but that was the nature of the beast - finding out how or why your father comitted suicide wasn't going to be pleasant.  The skillful story telling even managed to blend supernatural activity into the case as if it was an everyday occurence.  I loved it - it had me completely spooked on more than one occasion and I can't wait to read another...
