Review for X Marks the Box
An enjoyable collection of snippets on politics in the UK designed for dipping into. Now the General Election 2010 has been called for May 6th it may be a good present for the politically active - ones with a sense of humour. I suspect that a revised edition including the 2010 Election will soon be in preparation.
There are plenty of lists with a mixture of good advice, recent political history and humour.
Good advice about how to lobby your MP especially lobby your local MP rather than writing to the appropriate minister, who is just a likely to send a copy of their latest policy statement. Your local MP may not care but is much more available.
I particularly liked the descriptions of the Daily Newspapers. The author striving for a rational explanation for the 15% Labour and 17% Lib-Dem readers of the Daily Telegraph seemed to miss the obvious point that the DT has a good crossword! I occasionally find one that has been completed on the train without any other part of the paper having been obviously looked at.
Well worth a dip!
