Review of South Park Volume 10

    7 / 10

    Introduction

The tenth South Park DVD, with another four episodes from Series 3. The same winning formula continues, and as I have mentioned in previous reviews of the third season discs, the biggest change that you`ll see is that the box has switched from Super Jewel to Amaray, so that they no longer all match on your shelf.

    Video

No change here from the preceding nine discs - a pretty good 4:3 transfer, with the odd artefact here and there. Nothing to start writing to Watchdog to complain about though.

    Audio

Again continuing the trend set by all of the preceding discs, a DD2.0 stereo track, perfectly adequate for the job. And as per previous seasons the French audio track is included, with different voices for the characters. Brush up on those handy phrases before your next trip across the channel.

    Features

All of the third series discs are bereft of any bonus materials.

    Conclusion

Another 4 classic South Park episodes for your viewing pleasure, with 2 of the best parody episodes on offer.

"Chinpoko Mon" is basically a 20 minute attack on the Japanese craze of a similar name, as the children of the world become addicted to collecting stupid toys and watching pointless cartoons, whilst the Japanese government plots the downfall of the rest of the world. One of the best South Park episodes.

"Starvin` Marvin` In Space" features the return of the cartoon Ethiopian and Sally Struthers, plus the arrival of some extra terrestrial biological entities whose language consists of only one word. And the security services are involved too.

"Korn`s Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery" feature the aforementioned band, who go touring round in a brightly coloured bus reminiscent of that used by a cartoon dog and his friends, who were always getting into scrapes with villains and mystery ghosts. Another classic Halloween episode that will also appeal to Scooby Doo fans everywhere.

"Hooked On Monkey-Fonics" showcases the annual spelling competition. Cartman is struggling, and gets help from a special drumming primate, whilst two "home school" kids get to grips with meeting people from the real world, much to the distress of their parents.

Another great selection of episodes for fans, and one of the strongest discs.
