Island Of Fire is a change from the usual Jackie Chan type of film - it is a much more serious role for him, and although he gets top credit, the real stars are Tony Leung, Andy Lau, and Sammo Hung.

The picture is not quite the usual standard I expected from HKL, with some grain and cracks on a regular basis.

Sound is normal for a Chinese film - nothing special. There is no Dolby Digital track like some of the newer releases, but it does the job just fine.

There is another impressive set of extras, the best being the deleted scenes - around 25 minutes of them!

Well worth a look, but certainly not Jackie Chan`s best film by far.

The cover is very misleading. Jackie Chan is hardly in the film. Island of Fire is much more darker and serious than an average HK film. It is closer to a prison movie than a martial arts one. It is fairly entertaining but not very memorable or enjoyable.
The DVD was typical HKL. Worth renting out.
