X-Men Season 5 Volume 1
The X-Men 1990s cartoon was a pretty good cartoon. It usually presented its audience with episodes that fed on the last and though story arcs and character developments were not exactly ER or CSI, they were certainly effective. Characters such as Wolverine and Gambit were used wonderfully and Rogue had never looked better.
By the fifth season of the X-Men cartoon you could be forgiven for thinking that the creators had run out of ideas. As the previous season was originally going to be the last, it seems that this one is almost the writers clutching at straws to think of new ideas. This disk sees the use of the Phalanx as a villain for the first two episodes. To explain their origin it would take a good hour and to understand it would take some kind of genius. The disk contains five episodes of the show and all of them are worth watching if you are a fan of the comic or films and if you are just a fan of action animation it is a lot better than most.
The animation is as top notch as ever with some great action sequences and some great character animation throughout. Voice acting by a lot of the characters particularly George Buza as Beast and you can understand why they chose Kelsey Grammar to play the character in the films with this performance.
Again, sadly there are no extras and we will have to wait for Volume 2 to see how this Season ended, but for a few hours of animated entertainment you can do worse and look at the X-Men.
