Review for NBA Hardwood Classics Series: Super Slams Collection
The slam dunk is possibly one of the hardest things a player can do in basketball, but also the best thing they can do. If you are able to pull this move off, you can guarantee you will be in the highlight reel of the sports the next day. This DVD celebrates the players that can do that and not only do it, but do it time and time again. The set contains Super Slams of the NBA and NBA Super Slams 2 and is one of the best basketball DVDs I have ever watched. Rather than take me on a journey, explain a player, a team, a play, this is simply slam dunk after slam dunk for almost an hour and a half mixed in with a bit of back story about certain players who innovated or perfected the move. Most things would get boring after a few minutes and maybe would be suited for just a two or three minute highlight reel, but not this. I could happily sit and watch people slam dunk all day. There is something just so effortless and yet so aggressive about the way these players do it from Shaquille O'Neal to Michael Jordan you just sit there stunned by what you are seeing.
Now, at only an hour and a half it would have made sense if an extra had been created with some of the latest slam dunks, or maybe ones that didn't make the cut, or maybe even a more in-depth look at the origin of slam dunking, but what is given is wonderful for those who enjoy the sight of a ball being slam dunked.
NBA Hardwood Classics Series: Super Slams Collection is a slam dunk of a DVD and if you are a fan of this move or just like hard-hitting, exciting basketball, then this is certainly the disk for you.
