Review for NBA Hardwood Classics Series: Allen Iverson: The Answer

7 / 10

Over the few months I have been covering NBA DVDs one thing I have begun to notice is that every team has a star player. I suppose this is the same for all sports. It doesn't matter how low in the league they are, or what division, every team in every sport has their star player and basketball is the same. For the Philadelphia 76ers that man is Allen Iverson, who they have dubbed The Answer. Watching him you won't have to wonder what the question is: It's every question. Who do I pass to? Iverson is the answer. Who do I pick to shoot? Iverson is the answer.

Though his name does not have the same recognition as Jordan or Shaq, he is certainly a gifted player which this documentary proves. Iverson is an NBA Rookie of the Year winner, and has won the NBA scoring title four times and become one of the league's most prolific scorers in the game. Watching him play and you just can't imagine him not scoring from any point on the court and his ability to defend is just as good and even though very few people who are not basketball fans may know the name, upon watching this disk they will understand why he deserves this recognition and even went on to win the NBA MVP in 2001 and even a Bronze Medal at the 2004 Olympics. He played mainly for the Philadelphia 76ers he also had brief stints with the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons and the Memphis Grizzlies throughout his career. The documentary goes through his early life and career so far and shows some of his great skills on the court.

The DVD includes four additional extras which will make it even more of a must-have for fans of him or the 76ers and these include a look at his Top Ten Plays which are proof (if after viewing the documentary hadn't already done that) of just how good a player he is.

Allen Iverson: The Answer is a great look at this player, on or off the court he reveals himself to be a man of great character who puts a great deal of time and effort into perfecting his skills and boy does it show it on the court.
