Review for WWE Tagged Classics: US Rampage 91 and 92
WWE US Rampage 91 and 92 features almost four hours of classic WWE action. It includes the likes of the British Bulldog, The Ultimate Warrior, Macho Man Randy Savage, Mr Perfect, Kerry Von Erich 'Texas Tornado', an early Shawn Michaels in The Rockers, Jake Roberts, Ricky Steamboat and much more.
Rampage 1991.On this set the matches are generally fine, though there are a few that seem to be here for no reason whatsoever and that includes Roadwarrior Animal in singles action against Paul Roma, Haku vs. Greg Valentine and a variety of really bad vignettes. These feature Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan and 'Mean' Gene Okerlund playing golf and a creepy look at The Undertaker's manager Paul Bearer at home. Highlights of the first disk includes a great Intercontinental Championship match between Mr Perfect and The British Bulldog and a match between The Undertaker and The Ultimate Warrior.
Rampage 1992 Again this features a mixbag of matches and includes another number of horrible vignettes this time including makeup tips from Sensational Sherri and a number of Trivia Tests from Superstars like Ric Flair and Bret Hart which need to be seen to be believed. Once again there are a number of matches that really have no reason being on here including a horrible match between Tatanka and Rick Martel, but this disk actually makes up for it with a great Forty Man Battle Royal, an awesome Intercontinental match between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels an odd, but still great, six man tag match featuring The Roadwarriors (Or Legion of Doom) with their manager Paul Ellering against The Beverley Brothers and The Genius.
Probably one of the most unique (just because of its rarity) is a match featuring The Ultimate Warrior and The Undertaker teaming up (Yes you read that correctly) against Papa Shango and The Berzerker. As I say, it is a rare match and certainly one that fans of the Warrior and Undertaker should watch.
As with most of the Tagged Classic sets, it really depends on how much of a WWE fan you are as to whether it will be the set for you. This is really one for those (like me) who grew up in the early 90s watching. However, if you want to discover (or rediscover) the past of the company and possibly see some stars befeore they became superstars then these two disks are full of great action from the past.
