Review for WWE Hell in a Cell 2011
There used to be a time when the Hell in a Cell meant something. When the very stipulation was a rarity and special. Now? It's been killed off so much that it means nothing and even less in this WWE PG era. This PPV was horrendous and even the bits that I enjoyed are bits that I can't quite say why or even say I would watch them again.
Sheamus vs. Christian
A good match. It certainly helped kick start the PPV and is one of the better matches I have seen from the two of them.
Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara
My head hurts. It really does. The problem I have with this is that Sin Cara was too new for this to make sense. If it was Kane or Rey Mysterio it would make sense. Not disputing the quality of the match, but the whole idea was just stupid.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Air Boom (Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne) vs. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger
Another good step in the right direction for the tag division, but I do wish WWE would start building more as we can't just keep seeing these two or three teams feuding.
Hell in a Cell Match for the World Heavyweight ChampionshipRandy Orton vs. Mark Henry
Not as good as last time and in fact this match made me remember just how boring Mark Henry can be. The Cell didn't help and in fact the lack of use of it made me wonder what the point of it being there at all.
Intercontinental Championship Match
John Morrison vs. Cody Rhodes
A good match and I think one of Morrison's last appearances. Cody is making huge strides that I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't stepped up to the main event soon enough.
Divas Championship Match
Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix
Finally a Divas match that makes sense. Though I was hoping they would have this in the Cell to make it more interesting, but I guess that's the way it is.
Triple Threat Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship
John Cena vs. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio
That's very clever WWE. Add CM Punk to give me a reason to watch. And it worked. Almost. What has Del Rio got that I'm not seeing? I mean really? I can't stand the guy. And it's not the subpar JBL/Million Dollar man rip off gimmick, it's just when he gets in the ring… I stop caring. This match was good, but not great and that pains me to say that about a match CM Punk is in.
Hell in a Cell 2011 is not a great PPV by any stretch of the imagination. In fact it was one of the most tedious I have seen. Even when I seemed to be enjoying it, I scratched my head wondering why and this is not a good thing. There is literally nothing from this PPV that I would recommend to watch again and even a match with CM Punk is only OK, that's not a good thing by any means.
