Review for The Epic Journey of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson

    8 / 10

    FINALLY!!!!!

The Rock has his own documentary.

And what do I think of it? Well...
It doesn't matter what I think of it!

Well, actually it does and the documentary is excellent. It charts Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock's rise from a babyface who people thought sucked to the most electrifying man in ALL ENTERTAINMENT!

I'm not a huge fan of The Rock (I was always more of a Stone Cold person), but I have to admit, when he is on fire, the screen is on fire! Promos, working in the ring, this was a guy who had it all. And this wasn't like John Cena who seemed to just appear and then a year later was champion, this was a guy who made all the steps along the way.

We see his early days before wrestling trying to make it in Football and then finally being trained by his dad Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson followed by his debut as Rocky Maivia. The fans hated this persona and it wasn't until he joined the Nation of Domination that he became The Rock and then he took off becoming (amongst other things) seven time WWE Champion, headlining multiple Wrestlemanias and it was through his feuds with Mankind, Stone Cold and Triple H that he proved that he was the best in the ring as well as the best on the mic.

The Rock became famous for his promos that would tell us roodypoos to know our role and shut ours mouths and the fans loved every minute of it. His catchphrases became known worldwide showing up on millions... and millions of T-Shirts and promotions.

It was during all this success that The Rock garnered media attention and soon switched to Hollywood starring in films like Fast Five, Be Cool and Doom (though even the thinks that was a stinker!). But whenever he comes back to the WWE (as he has just done for Wrestlemania) he knows that with one raise of the eyebrow he will have the crowd in the palm of his hands.

This is an excellent documentary supported by two disks of matches. If you are after a lot of his classic promos then I would recommend you purchase his previous set 'The Rock: The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment'. This does include some great matches including a perfect match against Stone Cold at Backlash 1999 an interesting rare match against Ric Flair and his Intercontinental Ladder Match against Triple H, which I personally think is his best match.

If you are a fan of The Rock you will love this set and it really does make you realise just how great the Great One really was, if you smellllll what I am cooking!
