Review for WWE Royal Rumble 2012

I love the Royal Rumble. The Rumble is an event that i will always buy it and will always enjoy it. As far as I am concerned this is my Wrestlemania and I often say that if WWE ever decided to get rid of that event... I'M DONE! DONE DONE DONE! Just a warning there WWE.

This year's Rumble was very good. It wasn't the epic 40 man one that they had last year, but was certainly a match that I thought could stand up there with the best of them and I really enjoyed it. If you don't know who won try not to look at the box which more or less gives it away, but it is still great how the ending went and even the reappearance of people like Road Dogg, Mick Foley and Hacksaw Jim Duggan were nice moments. What I did enjoy was the fact that it was well paced and so you didn't spend ten minutes with no one you liked in the ring and this made for a great Rumble.

I never care much for the matches that come with this PPV as they are just filler before the Rumble, but I must admit that they were also pretty good. Cena vs Kane was fine, if a little punchy and oafish at times and I never really got with the whole 'embrace the hate' thing that the storyline had.

The Triple Threat Steel Cage match between Daniel Bryan Big Show and Mark Henry was excellent. Not often I say that about a Mark Henry match. This was a great match and I was sure that any of them could have walked out of the cage the winner.

The Diva tag match was eye candy and nothing more. However, hearing Beth Phoenix screaming 'Get out of my ring' to one of the Bellas made me smile at least. Brodus Clay and Drew McIntyre was fine, but really was only there so that the crowd could get pumped up by the Funkasaurus.

Finally CM Punk vs Dolph Ziggler was fine and the dynamic of having evil John Laurinaitis as  referee was almost a nice throwback to when Vince McMahon and the Stooges used to do that. A good match with a pretty surprising ending.

Royal Rumble 2012 was as good as most of the Rumbles in the past. I enjoyed the main event and the actual matches around it were not bad either. If you are a fan of battle royals like I am then you will surely want t check out the king of them all and this is a great example of it.
