Review for Michael McIntyre: Showtime
In the UK there is an abundance of great stand up comics, from old classics like Billy Connolly and Victoria Wood to this new breed with John Bishop, Jimmy Carr and Michael McIntyre leading the way. The shaky-headed comic god is back for another tour and for those who thought that he was funny before will be in for an even bigger treat. He's back and he's better than ever.
His topics covered includes a long look at London 2012 Olympics and whether we should have invaded a country afterwards to keep the spirit going. Beach Volleyball, Andy Murray which includes one of his simplest and funniest jokes ever... the kind usually only Tim Vine can get away with. Names being spelt differently. And the dangers of his wife having a fake tan. He also describes a trip to the dentist that had me howling with laughter from start to finish.
The show is great with some wonderful moments that you will be quoting to other people when you recommend or lend it to them... and this is definitely one of those DVDs that you will be lending to anyone with a funnybone or indeed anyone who hasn't and just needs a good laugh. The show never gets boring and McIntyre does not have to rely on various gimmicks of other comics like music, sketches, pre-taped skits (apart from the hilarious opener). It is simply just him making me roar with laughter.
If you are a fan of Michael McIntyre you probably already have this marked to purchase or asked for it as a present. If you are not, this might be the show that finally converts you to the Michael McIntyre world of hilarious comedy.
