Review for WWE Elimination Chamber 2013

The Elimination Chamber is one of the best PPV concepts of the year, the sad thing about it is that it is just in the wrong position in the year. As a mix of the Royal Rumble and the Survivor Series matches it has the same feel, but just feels wasted after the excitement of the Rumble from the previous month. However, I do enjoy the match and as a way of deciding who will be in the title picture for Wrestlemania (or at any time) it is great.

This year there is only one, which is a nice idea, as the two or three from the previous years was a little bit overkill (hopefully they go the same route with Money in the Bank), but by putting nothing behind the match it was a little lacklustre. As for the rest of the PPV? As much as I love CM Punk and think it is nice to see The Rock actually defend his belt, they can't hold up the rest of a rather so-so PPV.

Alberto Del Rio vs Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship was fine, if a bit by the numbers. I still don't care about Del Rio and spent most of the match hoping Show would just knock him out. Antonio Cesaro vs The Miz for the US belt was just a typical mid card match that meant nothing. The Six Man Tag between The Shield and Cena, Ryback and Sheamus was ok, but nothing special and as much as I'd like to say it was a great performance by The Shield, it was a very predictable match.

In a rather pointless blink and you'll miss it match, Dolph Ziggler took on Kofi Kingston. The highlight of this was seeing AJ, but I do hope she raises her stock and at least ventures into the Divas to show if she actually can wrestle as much as we remember from her Indy days. Do I need to mention the Kaitlyn and Tamina match? I mean you could cut and paste my comments from the last Divas match Kaityln was involved in. She's getting better, but not by much.

The Elimination Chamber match was awesome. It was given the right amount of time and everyone involved was wonderful. The match featured Chris Jericho, Jack Swagger, Daniel Bryan, Kane, Mark Henry and Randy Orton. All former World Heavyweight Champions. All proving why they should hold the belt instead of Del Rio. The ending was a shocker and to be honest as much as I disagreed with it, on reflection it was a good choice.

Finally, we have The Rock defending his belt against CM Punk. This was a wonderful match and certainly highlight of the night. The Rock proved the Rumble wasn't a flook, Punk proved why he is the best in the world. As much as I wanted an upset for this I am happy with how it ended and the two put on a great match that could have easily been the main event of Wrestlemania.

Elimination Chamber 2013 is a two match PPV, granted both of these matches were awesome, it is difficult to recommend it when I know one or both will be on the Best PPV Matches of 2013 DVD that WWE produce. If you are huge fan of the WWE then it is definitely a good PPV to have, but if you want the best maybe you should wait for Mania or pick up the Rumble instead.
