Review for Bryan Adams Live at Wembley 1996
Bryan Adams is one of those musicians that few people want to admit they like, but really everyone does. If you are saying that you haven't sang along to Summer of 69 or danced with your loved one to Everything I Do, I Do It For You, then I will call you a liar.
This concert from Wembley 1996 was during his 18 til I Die album tour and I am sad that I was probably too young (at 14) to be aware that a concert like this was something I could go to. I have since seen Adams a number of times and I will say that he is a fantastic performer. If you are a fan of his you will love it and if you were lucky enough to have been this you will love to relive this event.
The concert is over two hours of his classic hits up to that point including Summer of 69, Run To You, Heaven, Everything I Do, I Do It For You, All For Love and so many more. He leans heavily on the 18 til I Die album, which is understandable considering it had just been released though many of these songs such as The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me Is You and the title track have become classic fan favourites.
The singalong portions showed just how loved he was and how much everyone knows every single word of every song. Watching Heaven with everyone singing it was almost like he didn't even need to be there. What is also wonderful is that this is a time before mobiles and so there are no waves of fans watching while filming and Adams has every single one of these fans in the palm of his hands from first song to the last.
One thing I will say is that I do wish there had been more on this DVD. I expected there to be an option to download the songs so you could listen to them or for maybe an up to date interview with Adams about the show, tour and what effect it had on him. Even some interviews from at the time would have been good. We only get the full concert, but considering how amazing it is I shouldn't complain.
Bryan Adams Live at Wembley 1996 is a fantastic concert and one that I got goosebumps throughout the entire show watching. I enjoyed reliving some of his best songs and if you are a fan of him you will not need convincing to buy this classic concert.
