An excellent movie with a great cast of veterans if only they made more of this kind of picture.eastwood is better than he has been in years.sutherland is fantastic as the ladies man.james garner proves he should be in more movies and tommy lee jones is great too.william devane and james cromwell are the two nasa stooges.the f/x are great. the sound was rightly oscar nominated.this is a superb dvd.

A good movie with a cast that is always worth watching. slight drawbacks were that they could have done this film in their sleep. Worth a look though.

A very entertaining and fun movie.
While its arguable as to how logical the script is, if taken in the right perspective, this movie can really be satisfying.
The video transfer is very good. The CG animation is superb and even the dark scenes don`t show any compression signs. The transfer reveals each and every wrinkle on the faces (and bodies, mind you) of the 4 lead characters.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is very good. There is a constant usage of the surrounds during the flight scenes as well as in other space scenes.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include an extensive behind the scenes look that includes some explanations about the CG animation and a very funny "The Tonight Show" sequence.
Bottom line - a very entertaining and good looking movie. Recommended.
