The Dude, Jeff Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) is unemployed and laid-back until victim of mistaken identity, two thugs break into his apartment in the errant belief that they are accosting Jeff Lebowski the Pasadena millionaire.

In hope of getting a replacement for his soiled carped Dude visits his wealthy namesake and, with buddy, ex `Nam` veteran, Walter (John Goodman), he is swept into a Coenesque comedy/thriller of extortion, embezzlement, sex and dope.

An incredibly stupid movie that starts nowhere, keeps going in that direction and ends exactly where it started. Totally senseless.
The video transfer is very average. There are numerous compression signs, especially during the almost pitch black scenes. Dust particles and scratches can also be noticed.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is very flat. The surrounds are not used at all.
    The menus are partially animated.
The extras include a behind the scenes look.
Bottom line - forget it. Stupid, senseless and very boring. Avoid.

    The Coen brothers! AYE!

Content:- A lovely film to watch, very strange though. Brilliant cast and performance, great music and really just quite very strange aswell. It was quite strange in many ways though, not just in a surreal sense. The way the 2 Coens have dealt with the script is most unusual, basically when it came to the ending. It didnt seem to wrap up properly, but then again I suppose that is just part and parcel of the surreal nature of the film. Maybe. It was good though. Very funny.

Video:- A reasonable show here. I was impressed by the on screen option of either full or widescreen video. I definately prefer that to flipper discs. Well anyway I watched the widescreen version, naturally, and I have no complaints really. It wasnt the cleanest transfer but it had plenty of colour when needed. Not too bad, but could be better.

Audio:- A slightly dull soundtrack here, but only in terms of dynamics and satellite action. If it had been stereo it probably would have sounded the same for the most part. Nothing terribly wrong with that though as all the music and vocals came through fine and in the correct order as intended. I think.

Features:- Hmm well the 30 minute documentry thing was a start, but didnt really explain much to be honest. It had some funny anecdotes and things but that was about it. Not a very good show here to be honest.

Overall:- A quirky film that keeps on surprising. Superbly acted and well worth a watch. Perhaps not the Coen`s best but a very good effort all the same, but then again they all are. A reasonable DVD in terms of video and audio, but let down by poopy extras. When are Coen brothers films going to get decent extras?!
