Synopsis:
Two generations of outstanding acting talent come face to face in this story of a turbulent mother-daughter relationship. Susan Sarandon portrays flamboyant Adele August, who one day takes off for Los Angeles, leaving her second husband behind. Along for the ride is her only child Ann (Natalie Portman), a frustrated and homesick teen struggling to fulfil her mother`s expectations of a movie star daughter. Anywhere But Here tracks this relationship over a number of years, finding conflict, tragedy but deep affection between the two. Eventually, however, Adele will have to face up to her own insecurities and allow Ann to chase her own dreams, all the way to a distant East Coast university.
