Synopsis:
Natalie Portman plays Novalee Nation, a heavily pregnant 17-year old girl abandoned in a Wal-Mart by her dreamer boyfriend. All alone and with only $5.55 in her pocket, she secretly lives in the store until, six weeks later, giving birth to her daughter on the floor. From this point, helped by kindly and eccentric locals (played by the likes of Sally Field and Ashley Judd) and the measure of celebrity the `Wal-Mart Baby` has brought her, Novalee determines to build a better life for herself and her child. In little Sequoyah, Oklahoma, where fate has dropped her, she will finally find a home. Where the Heart Is is a touching feel-good movie charting the heroic development of a homeless teen into a strong young woman.
