Review of Ronin

Video

This is a very well shot film, however what makes it excellent is the quality of the footage for the car chases, which take this film from being simply very good, to absolutely excellent, they are well shot, well choreographed and left me wanting to go down to the local Audi dealership and try out an S8.

Audio

The visuals are matched by the sound quality, everything is reproduced perfectly, from the roar of engines in the excellent car chases to the quality sound track which only adds to this excellent film.

Features

This disc has an impressive set of extra features, the most notable being the alternative ending, which manages to change the whole atmosphere of the film in two minutes. There is also a director`s commentary, which I have not listened to but given the quality of the other features, I am sure it`s very good. Also included is the trailer for the movie and a `Filming in the Fast Lane` feature.

Conclusion

This is an excellent film made by the performances of our two heroes`, Robert De Niro and John Reno and some quality directing by John Frankenheimer. The car chases in my opinion are the best part of this film, however they in effect only add to what is an overall excellent film.
