Synopsis:
In Japan, the genre of Virtual Stars is truly a phenomenon. Computer-generated characters created using incredible, state-of-the-art animation techniques feature in their own worlds - real life, science fiction, music - anything goes! These characters are so stunningly presented, they`re Virtually Real.
Here we introduce Japan`s Number 1 Virtual Star, the sensational Yuki Terai and showcase her in six short stories. Yuki Terai is seen in many different guises; as the high-kicking, feisty grand larsonist in Comet The Thief, to the sensuous night club songbird in the haunting Fly Away Alone. In Japan, Yuki has hosted awards ceremonies, has a hit CD and a bestselling coffee table book of some her best photos as a model. In Virtual terms, Yuki Terai is the definition of a megastar.
Fly Away Alone
The tune from an old music box sets the mood for this episode, as we visit the atmospheric surroundings of an old Jazz club to hear Yuki`s combo play the haunting ballad "Fly Away Alone".
Dos/Chin
As Yuki takes a break from sketching, her electronic canine pet Dos/Chin gets curious and accidentally knocks her work to the floor. Enraged, she scalds him so fiercely that he leaves to walk the streets alone with disastrous results.
A Life
Shades of Nikita envelop this mood-evoking piece. As Yuki prepares to leave her hotel for the evening, we see visions of her frustrated, maybe even suicidal with pistol in hand. Flashes of the young girl at home in happier times fade to black and precede a single, piercing shot.
Comet The Thief
Yuki plays the sleek, high-kicking, thief `Comet`. Having already signalled her mischievous intentions, the audatious Comet scales the outside of an office block and on reaching the well-guarded penthouse, she fends off all-comers in a ferocious display of unarmed combat to make off with her prize.
The Mirror
In this somewhat eerie episode we see Yuki Terai during her daily routine. Several versions of herself begin to `emerge` from mirrors to follow her. A bizarre journey leads to the ironic discovery that like her pursuers Yuki is not real, but a computer generated character.
Lazy Gui
In this Episode we see the scantily-clad Yuki on board a Space Freighter. An alarm signals a virus in the computer system but as she desperately she tries to create an anti-viral agent, she discovers there isn`t enough time and must try to reach the escape pod instead. Is she safe or is more trouble in store?
