I had high expectations for this film. Top cast and very well directed. I loved the sets and the acting. Depp was fantastic and was well supported by Coltrane and Richardson. The romance with Heather Graham was silly and did not work at all.
The script was good but there was something missing. The film just dragged on a bit too long and considering the subject matter, should have been more thrilling. It was entertaining but should have been even better. Sleepy Hollow is a similar film but much more entertaining.
The disc is packed with extras. The commentaries are interesting and the numerous deleted scenes are a nice touch. Some decent featurettes as well. From Hell is a good DVD buy for the extras and well worth watching.
