Synopsis:
The fourth film from French Canadian director Robert LePage (and his first to be made in English), Possible Worlds was adapted from the 1990 stage play by award-winning playwright and co-writer John Mighton. When police detectives Berkley (Sean McCann) and Williams (Rick Miller) arrive at a gruesome murder scene, they find themselves baffled by the circumstances; the victim, financial analyst George Barber (Tom McCamus), has $1000 in his pocket but is missing his brain.
As the police begin their investigation, a series of flashbacks reveal the events leading up to George`s demise. Apparently having lived a series of simultaneous parallel lives, in each existence George meets several incarnations of a woman named Joyce (Tilda Swinton). As the details of their various romantic entanglements become more and more surreal, the answer to the question of George`s fate begins to reveal itself. Meanwhile, the bizarre murders continue, with the killer each time stealing his victim`s brain.
