    Synopsis:
The Swordsman is an epic fantasy-swordplay adventure in the tradition of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Co-directed by Palme D`Or nominee King Hu (A Touch Of Zen), and the acclaimed director of the Chinese Ghost Story trilogy, Ching Siu-tung, The Swordsman is the first part of its own successful, eponymous trilogy.

Set during the latter years of the Ming Dynasty, The Swordsman concerns the theft from the Emperor of a sacred scroll containing valuable martial arts secrets. The scroll`s disappearance triggers an intense and deadly power struggle as a host of dangerous characters - including minions of the Imperial Court, Japanese samurai, snake-wielding tribeswomen, and the swordsman of the title, along with his fellow disciple - all vie for its possession.
