Synopsis:
Francois Truffaut brings his love of kids and cinema seamlessly together in this tribute to the joys, yearnings, pains and wonders of childhood. A kaleidoscopic rhapsody in Trauffaut`s classic humanist style, Small Change is a lyrically funny tribute to children. In the quaint French town of Thiers, the streets abound with the sounds of children laughing and playing. While most of them deal with such simple issues as puppy love and starting school for the first time, some don`t find life quite so easy.
The hungry ones play upon the heartstrings of neighbours for supper, and the lonely ones cause trouble for attention. But when the horrible truth behind one boy`s petty thievery is revealed, a shockwave is sent through the picturesque town that opens the villagers` eye to their children`s pain. With mesmerising power, the youngsters in Small Change bare their soul with a refreshing honesty most adults can only remember fondly. An escape from the jaded adult perspective on life, Small Change is a joyous celebration.
