Synopsis:
Unmarried at 31, Zaza is a blot on his family. Trotting him out before one potential bride after another, he never manages to tie the knot. Curious, his family investigates and soon discovers the reason for Zaza`s reluctance... his secret relationship with divorcee Judith. Upset, the entire family decides to intervene, culminating in a hair-raising showdown in which Zaza`s relatives burst into Judith`s home and confront Zaza in front of Judith and her six-year-old daughter Madonna.
Powered by the erotic chemistry between Zaza and Judith, Late Marriage is both provocative and heartrending - a hilarious and unblinkingly honest film which reflects the complications of sex, love and the family`s role in the rocky road to the alter.

Your Opinions and Comments
This is an Israeli movie, that got a lot of praise here.
It deals with the so-called traditions of Georgian Jews (Jews who came from the former USSR republic of Georgia). Those traditions are seen through the eye of the director, who is also Georgian. To western eyes, those traditions seem as if they belong in the dark ages. I also think the primitive customs bring those people hundreds of years back. Talk about time travelling.
The movie tells the story of Zaza, a 32 year old son of Georgian immigrants who is still not married. His parents are trying to stick with the Georgian tradition and find the right (Georgian) girl for him. Zaza, however, is secretly having an affair with an older divorcee.
Despite most of the characters in the movie being so primitive, the movie includes one of the most explicit sex scenes I`ve ever seen. The scene really pushes the NC rating to its limit.
The video transfer is good. It`s good to see an Israeli movie on DVD in widescreen. There are no compression signs and the picture is accurately framed.
The DD 2.0 soundtrack is adequate. The spoken language of the movie is Georgian (which is a dreadful combination of Russian, Turkish and some other languages), but some scenes include Hebrew as well. Thankfully, we also get English subtitles.
The menus are still with music.
The extras include a 25 minute behind the scenes featurette, which is rather informative.
Bottom line - an average movie about people who`d rather live in the past than face the future. Although not that interesting, it is (unfortunately) quite accurate.
