Review of Wet Wet Wet Greatest Hits
Introduction
I was a big, I mean big, big fan of the Wets back in the eighties and even into the early nineties. I had the posters on my wall and the vinyl on my deck and I swooned for Mr Pellow. The best thing about Wet Wet Wet`s music is it`s timeless, a collection of great songs that owe a slight nod to the Motown and Soul eras, two more timeless ages in music history.
Video
These 4:3 (1.33:1) transfers are nothing special. There`s plenty of grain and quite a bit of macro blocking. These are oldish videos and some margin of error can be given on that fact, but there is a definite lack of care and attention with the whole production of this DVD.
Audio
Apparently you have the choice of both 5.1 Dolby Digital and 2.0 Dolby Digital (Stereo). The 5.1 feels very fake and unnatural. This track is also very shrill and has a distinct lack of base. The better track is the 2.0, it is more natural but still lacks the base that can add so much warmth to even subtle low key numbers. The biggest problem here is the lack of care, yet again, with track endings. Many are not left to fade out fully and jump back to the menu screen abruptly

Conclusion
I thought this would be a nice disc to own. I`d have all my favourite Wet tracks with wonderfully warm sounding 5.1 surround, how wrong I was. All you get is a rushed out DVD that`s feels like it`s been put together by an amateur. Sound is poor with irritating authoring mistakes. The video is also on a par with the sound. Buy the CD forget about the DVD.
