Synopsis:
Honey Daniels (Jessica Alba) is a dancer and aspiring choreographer who dreams of making it big in the hip-hop world. Not content with living in her parent`s secure world, Honey has moved to the vibrant inner city where the streets are a barrage of sound, energy and music. Life there is tough; Honey works three jobs, teaching hip-hop classes at a local youth centre, working in a record shop by day and bartending at a trendy club by night. Honey comes alive on the club`s dance floor and her smooth moves eventually catch the eye of influential video director Michael Ellis (David Moscow), who casts her in his next video.
Before long, New York is buzzing about Honey Daniels, and artists such as Ginuwine and Missy Elliott are clamoring to work with the innovative rising star. However, almost as quickly as it arrives, her dream starts to dissolve and Honey finds herself back where she started. However, the exuberant energy of a group of neighborhood kids and their daily struggles soon inspire Honey, and with the help of her boyfriend Chaz (Mekhi Phifer) she teaches them how to change their lives by letting go on the dancefloor.
