The Passion Of Christ is a difficult movie to review.
Technically speaking - it`s well done.
As for how accurate it is - well, that`s debatable. Everyone is entitled to stick to his or her belief, prior or after watching this movie.
There was a lot of controversy regarding this movie. Some called it "anti-semetic", others thought it was too harsh to watch. I, for once, being Jewish myself, think there`s not even a slight reference to anti-semitism in the movie. Having said that, however, I think this movie CAN be too difficult to watch for people who believe in Christ.
The video transfer is very good. There are no compression signs and the colors are beautifully saturated.
The DTS and DD 5.1 soundtracks are both very good. The surrounds are used throughout the movie and create a hauntingly real environment. Gibson`s decision to have the actors speak in Aramaic and Latin turned out to be a good one. While no one nowadays speaks Aramaic (it`s an extinct language), a lot of words are common with Hebrew and Arabic.
The disc also includes an audio description, which tends to be quite accurate and detailed.
The menus are animated with sound.
The disc offers no extras at all.
Bottom line - this movie is all about one man`s faith and its consequences. It`s far from being the masterpiece it is claimed to be. Still, worths a single viewing.
