Synopsis:
Private is a gripping and thought-provoking thriller set amid the horrors of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The home of a Palestinian family living in the disputed no-man`s land near to an Israeli settlement is invaded and taken over by a small group of Israeli soldiers. Rather than leave his home to the intruders, Mohammed, an academic and proud, principled patriarch, decides he, his wife, their three sons and two daughters will remain in the house in a show of passive resistance. Although allowed to go about their usual business and attend work and school, by day, they are forced to live in the downstairs quarters of the house and at night are put under strict house arrest in their own small living room. The upstairs areas of the house, now occupied by the soldiers, are strictly off-limits, with the threat of severe punishment for anyone who breaks the rules. As relationships begin to break down, the humiliation and hardships suffered by the family, combined with the tense nervousness of the soldiers, soon result in a dangerously volatile situation that threatens to explode.
