Synopsis:
Dick (Jamie Bell) is a teenage loner living an empty life in the poor American mining town of Estherslope. That all changes, however, when Dick happens upon a small, pearl-handled six-shooter and, despite his pacifist leanings, becomes obsessed with the gun, even to the extent of giving it a name - Wendy. Inspired by his newfound "partner", Dick befriends the rest of the town`s young outcasts and misfits, convincing them to join him in a secret club he calls The Dandies. Dedicating themselves to the non-violent study of the finer points of ballistics, marksmanship and exit wounds, The Dandies establish and adhere to a strict code of honour, the most important rule of which is "never draw your weapon."
But the arrival of an outsider and a dire misunderstanding together provide a catalyst to an event that leads The Dandies to accept that rules are meant to be broken. A contemporary teen fable that contains echoes of the westerns of Sam Peckinpah, Thomas Vinterberg`s Dear Wendy is an explosive indictment of modern-day gun culture played out against a dynamic soundtrack of songs by The Zombies, which play as important a role in the proceedings as any of the film`s characters.
