Synopsis:
The story picks up six months after the horrifying events that terrorised Rachel Keller and her son Aidan in Seattle. To escape her haunting memories, Rachel takes Aidan and moves to the small coastal community of Astoria, Oregon, to start afresh. However, Rachel`s resolve turns to dread when evidence at a local crime scene - including an unmarked videotape - seems eerily familiar. Realising that she is the focus of Samara`s return, Rachel must herself purge this relentless cycle of terror and death.

I did not have that many expectation from the sequel to the pretty good "The Ring".
Imagine my surprise when I watched this movie. It many ways - it`s actually better than the first one.
Having said that, though, it doesn`t necessarily follow the so-called "logic" of the first movie. Still - it works.
The video transfer is very good. There are no visible compression signs and the colors are nicely saturated, while the palettes change throughout the movie, thus adding even more to its already creepy atmosphere.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is very good, too. The surrounds are constantly used and they, too, help increase the frightening atmosphere.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include 8 deleted scenes, a behind the scenes featurette and explanations about the special effects.
Bottom line - an intense thriller with numerous horror elements and an enjoyable movie throughout.
