Review of Madonna: Music (DVD Single)
Introduction
I could fill this with Ali-G quotes but really this is a Madonna disc so I won`t. Suffice to say, what we have here is a DVD single if you like, featuring two marginally different cuts of Madonna`s first single from her new album Music.
Forgive me if I don`t go into too much detail here, its only a liddle disc you know.
Video
This is quite a nice looking full frame transfer, colours are vibrant and I`ve seen a lot worse for a music video, particularly other Madonna music videos.
As for the eye candy, its a pleasing video with a nice cartoon section in the middle. Nothing groundbreaking however, probably why Ali-G was brought in to liven it up a tad.
Audio
Sounds is good, albeit Dolby Stereo. Its pretty much a straight copy off the album with the odd sound effects and dialogue on top.
You get two different mixes of this single, but you`d be hard pushed to notice whats changed. Its mainly to include more of Ali-G in the middle where he turns down the stereo and throws in a quick gag.
Features
Er, menu is nice.
Conclusion
This is one for fans of Madonna only, its clearly marketed as such too. The price is low enough for the likes of me to not complain that much, its more expensive than the better Rock DJ release from Robbie Willaims and actually contains less content. It probably isn`t even good value for money, but its still priced low enough to grab the obsessive`s attention.
Nothing on this disc is ground breaking, even the music itself. But even so, you have to admire what this video has achieved, people all over the country are now saying, "Is you Madonna?" left, right and centre.
But lets realise that nobody is likely to buy this unless they have seen the video or heard the song anyway, so you should already know what your getting before you hand over the dosh. No surprises, it does exactly what it says on the tin.
