RE: Connecting to an old portable with no scart socket

Yes. It should work. You can test it by connecting your DVD player to VCR using a normal scart cable. The only difference would be that the picture won`t be good because of Macrovision. If this works, you can by the Mac Master 2001 to disable Macrovision.

You don`t need TV that is NTSC compatible to play R1 discs.

RE: Cyberhome 528: RCE & dts decoder

Richard,

thanks for reply.

Yes it is dts compatible, but my question is that if I have an analogue amp with six channel input connected to CH 528, when playing dts discs, will I get dts surround sound or not? In other words, does it provide decoded dts output from its six channels?

Thanks for help...

Cyberhome 528: RCE & dts decoder

Does anyone know if CH 528 can play RCD discs?
Also, does it have a dts decoder built in?
The Home Entertainment magazine`s October issue says it has, but the tech specifications and user manual doesn`t mention anything about it.

Any answers...
Thanks v much

Help! Connecting DVD to my TV

What is the best connection as I have 28" TV which has 1 scart with RGB and other scart without RGB. If I connect DVD to the scart with RGB, and connect my digital cable box to other scart, pictures from cable channels won`t be good. I don`t have a SVHS socket on back of TV. I have one in front, so in a worst scenario, I may have to use the SVHS connection on TV for the DVD player.

Has anyone used SVHS to scart converters (a scart male connection on one end with 3 A/V ports and an SVHS socket on other end)? Are they any good? If I use that to connect to a non-RGB scart, would I get a good picture quality?

Thanks everyone..

RE: Samsung 811 with Videologic speakers vs Cyberhome 528 with Creative speakers

Richard,
thanks once again

I baught 512 today from WH Smith.
I need to know, is the Macrovision always disabled or do I need a hack/special settings to do this?

I tried connecting DVD player via NTL digital cable box to my VHS recorder. The picture and recording was not really good. I also tried connecting DVD and VCR via an A/V cable. The result were again the same.

Any idea if I am doing anything wrong?

Thanks for your help in advance.

RE: Samsung 811 with Videologic speakers vs Cyberhome 528 with Creative speakers

Thanks Richard,

I think I will go for the DVD player first and try out speakers from Tesco later on. Or go for a proper AV solution at later date. Will probably use my Aiwa hifi for 2 channel output as suggested.

Could you (or anyone else on the forum) also suggest if I should go for Cyberhome 512 or 528? Which is a better value. Or any other suggestion for a DVD player without Macrovision.

Thanks in advance

Pioneer 343

Is it any good? I saw at hed for £153 (mutli region). Has anyone used them?

Samsung 811 with Videologic speakers vs Cyberhome 528 with Creative speakers

I am looking at a start up DVD player that is multi region. John Lewis are offering Samsung 811 with Videologic speakers (4 for front, 2 for rear, 1 centre and 1 subwoofer) for £249. Whereas the Cryberhome 528 with Creative speakers (set of 6) is available from Tiny for £199. Has anyone used any of these combinations?

Considering that the speakers with Samsung or Cyberhome don`t come with any remote to control volumes of speakers, does it make any sense to go with speakers only with the DVD player? Or should I buy the player only to start with and buy a proper A/V receiver and speakers separately. I have a Dolby Prologic TV, so assume the sound effects won`t be that bad on the TV.

Also, out of Samsung and Cyberhome, which is a better player?

Thanks in advance

RE: Beko 28

Hi.

I will vote for Philips anyday. I have got 28" Dolby Pro Logic widescreen model and have been using it for few years. No problems so far. Does auto formating and allows you to choose various formats, including Zoom with subtitles (allowing you to watch 16:9 movies with subtitles).

I believe the newer models (including 28PW6006) have much flatter screens and more features.

Good luck...

RE: limit dvd 8080a macrovision disable

Could someone tell me where it is available and for how much.

Cheers.

Wharfedale M5 for £130

I found someone mentioning on one of the forums that this DVD player is available at Tesco for £130. However, my local Tesco is selling it for £180. Could someone tell me the store location where it is being sold for £130, then I can ask my local Tesco to do price match. Also, would appreciate your comments if you happen to own one of these.

RE: I Need a Cheap Macrovision Free DVD Player??

Cyberhome is available from www.scan.co.uk for under £120

RE: Wharfedale M5 Macro Off

Bogey,
where did u see Wharfdale M5 for £130? Could you let me know the store location. I saw the same player for £180 at Tescos in Slough.
Thanks in advance.

Cyberhome, Warfedable, Scan or Yelo... Which is a good one???

Hi ! I am looking for my first DVD player. I am not really bothered with the built in Dolby / DTS decoder because I ultimately need to buy one. I am looking for an economical player which provides good picture and good sound using a Dolby Pro Logic Widescreen TV (to be frank Philips 28"). I have looked at various sites, reviews for above players and am a bit confused. Your advise / help would be appreciated.
Thanks v much in advance.
