RE: Logix 3000
yes you can it is ok quality the same as region 2, the only small problem you have its the normal problem of outputting to pal 50 where you can get a very slight stuttering of the picture on slow panning shots because of the different frame rates 30 for ntsc and 25 for pal which you can notice on the original dvd and is transfered to tape

RE: Alba DVD113 ??
Yes the Alba 104 plays DVD all regions, is macro free, plays vcd/s & svcd`s (home made and factory), mp3 and audio cd. It uses the ESS chip and is a later number on the chip than the Logix I have I think it was 4408 in the Alba and 4318 in the Logix with the latest chip and 2.36fw. It looks to me a better picture than the Logix a lot less jaggies much smoother. Had no probs with gladiator, Matrix or Toy story 1 & 2.
There is only a few downside in that FF search is only 8 x (logix 64 x) and only outputs DD 5.1 (logix DTS) and the firmware is not upgradable, also you have to set up the audio to play thru` the Tv or to a external amp and will only output to one or the other so could be a bit of a pain if you dont have your amp on all the time
They both use the same DVD drive but have different controller hardware and look very similar inside.
I got this for a relative and was impressed with it much better that the Alba 103 & Wharfdale 750 that I`ve tried before
