RE: Sony DAV-S500 Vs Pioneer NS-Dv55

I`ve also been trying to make a similar decision. I started looking at the Sony and was impressed with its specs, but everyone I asked who should know said that the Sony just doesn`t sound as good as the Pioneer. One of the main reasons for this is that the Sony has a passive sub, but the Pioneer has a powered one.... So I nearly settled on the Pioneer... then someone introduced me to the JVC CP-100AL. This is more of a cinema pack with DVD player separate to the receiver. It is also more powerful than the Pioneer and a high street salesperson said it was way better than the Pioneer. I asked the opinion of a techtronics.com salesperson who said he`d heard them both and prefers the Pioneer, but its really a personal preference issue. I think I`ve now settled on getting the JVC... in my opinion it has better connectors and the pack also comes with wall mounts for the speakers!! Another bonus is that if you buy the moded version from techtronics it converts ntsc into pal as well :-)
