RE: Confussed about DVDImport Pricing
Perhaps, DVDImport wait till enough orders have been received from European clients before shipping - maybe in some bid to reduce cost through bulk shipping. It must cost them something to post orders, I would presume. OR they may have been inundated with orders and they just can`t cope.
RE: Confussed about DVDImport Pricing
This gets better. I left a message asking why I had been charged 17.94 for Swordfish when it was 16.24, at time I left the message. it`s now 15.97. They have now replied (belatedly mind) letting me know that they have credited my credit card with the difference and mentioned something about exchange rates. God knows, if that`s right. Anyway, Swordfish (which according to their website won`t be released till the end of October) has been sent on the 18th of October. Eh? How? Hell, I don`t care as long as it gets here. I am impressed that I got a response fro them though, considering previous messages regarding issues regarding contacting them.
RE: Changing your details at DVDimport
It is tempting though...when their charging roughly 16 to 17 dollars for some brand new releases (which includes the delivery). I agree with you though, do 1 disc at a time. I ordered 4 discs in a row (I really couldn`t hold out seeing as the prices fluctuate so much). I received the first, 4 weeks after the order (see separate thread on DVDImport). The other 3 are on pre-order. First one, Swordfish should ship at the end of this month & therefore, from what I`ve experienced and from what others are saying on these message boards, expect it on my door mat by mid december at the latest. They seem to be genuine I suppose, just not very accessible. One thing someone said in a previous thread.....IF you want free delivery then you are not going to get it next day nor is there any insurance. DVDBoxoffice is an alternative (faster delivery) but slightly (about a dollar) more expensive.
RE: Confussed about DVDImport Pricing
I`ve used DVD box office and received my DVD in reasonable time. With regards Credit cards, I would presume, from other messages that are around, that if you have a credit card with internet fraud protection you should be o.k. BUT, seeing as I`ve never actioned this right I would be interested to know what`s the score with these credit cards.
The only problem with DVB box office is the fact that it costs more than DVDImport. I mean Swordfish is roughly 20 dollars on boxoffice and 16 ish on Import. I suppose, if you get the dvd on your door mat, that in itself is a result.
Are there any DVD sites which, even taking the cost of delivery into account, are cheaper than your Amazons or Play247? For example and Australian or Far Eastern site?
RE: Confussed about DVDImport Pricing
Following on from my earlier message regarding delivery times and DVDImport, I have now received my DVD (3000 Miles to Graceland), yesterday. Roughly 1 month later. I suppose now that I have it, I don`t feel as bad about this company. It arrived in a padded jiffy bag (just like normal post) - brand new. The only issues, that this and previous messages have pointed out are:
1) They charge your credit card straight away.
2) DVDs drop in price even before release (e.g. bought Sworfish at 17 odd dollars, a few days ago it was selling for less than 16). I suppose a dollar is neither here nor there.....but nevertheless. It could be accounted for currency fluctuations, since they display their prices in USD but charge in Canadian.
3) They do not respond to any messages you leave them (why should they, they`ve already taken your money).
4) Delivery can vary from a few days to months.
Now, I still have 3 more DVDs on pre-order......so let`s wait and see if they also arrive. If all 3 arrive, I`ll carry on buying...but if any take more than 2 months, I really don`t think I will be using them again....even though they are cheap as hell. The FREE delivery is almost a clincher isn`t it?
Does anyone recomend any other free delivery sites?
BTW, check out DVDpricesearch for price comparisons between internet sites. No mention of DVDImport though.
RE: Confussed about DVDImport Pricing
How long did you have to wait? Did you pre-order the order you received o.k. It`s now been about 22 days now for me. I suppose I start getting anxious around about the 2 month mark.
RE: Confussed about DVDImport Pricing
How long have you guys/gals waited before receiving a DVD from DVDIMPORT, on average, using the CANADA POST worldwide delivery option? Also, on the issue of pricing, I`ve noticed that the price of a pre-ordered DVD (in my case Swordfish) has dropped in price. I ordered it for 17.24 US dollars, It`s now under 16 dollars. Since, it seems, these guys charge you on the day of the order, I presume I`m going to paying 17.24 rather than under 16 dollars when the DVD is actually released. Incidentally, DVDBoxOffice are good. I actually received my DVD. I thought I would prefer DVDImport because of the cheaper prices and no delivery charges...but I may be regretting my choice of vendor. Someone tell us something good about this company. Please. They seem to be genuine, since there are reports that people are receiving goods, albeit late.
