What was the e-mail address you used for Bud?

Cheers.

RE: how do i take capture from my pc-dvds?

Win DVD DOES work - It just puts the captured images in a unusual place (Can`t remember off the top of my head)

Just capture a few and search your hard drive for files updated/created that day and you will find them.

RE: http://www.etsp.co.uk/ - Any Catches???

Don`t Do it!!!

There are no catches to this club, but as the guys above say, the bar stewards keep sending you crap you don`t ask for and then try and charge you the p&p fees for sending you the damn thing!

Even when you cancel the editors choice on the web, you sometimes still get it.

RE: 8 in 1 Remote Control £7.99 at Aldi

Yes - all the usual sky digital functions work.

It just takes a few minutes to work out which button does what

8 in 1 Remote Control £7.99 at Aldi

Aldi are selling an 8-in-1 remote control from this Thursday for £7.99.
I got one of these last time they sold them and it worked on everything I tried it on! It replaced a jumble of 7 remotes!!

This one looks a bit more slicker too!

They sold very quickly last time so get in quick if you want one!

RE: Cam-corders and Sonys i-link (s400)

i-link is just what Sony call the IEE1394 interface. It is also known as DV and firewire but they are all the same.

The connectors are the same so the same cable will be able to connect any camcorder with a DV/i-link output.

RE: So how did you get your username then?

Just my initials - nothing exciting!

RE: HTK-215 i need info plz

Not sure about the panasonic rv40 - try searching this forum or post a new thread.

I don`t think you get a a different menu for dts but are just able to select the dts soundtrack.

RE: HTK-215 i need info plz

Yes - the HTK-215 does have a DTS decoder despite certain sony outlets saying it doesn`t.

The DVD player does not need an on-board dts decoder as the HTK-215 will do it for you. All you need is a DVD player that outputs a dts signal.

RE: The Big Brother 3 Thread

Sandy has finally quit!

Can anybody be more two-faced and back-stabbing than Adelle!!!??

RE: vcd playing

have a look on www.vcdhelp.com.

You shouldn`t have to `enable` VCD. It may be that your player doesn`t like certain brands of CD-Rs (if they are ones you have created yourself)

RE: Insurance on CC and Debit Cards...

they are just trying to get out of it. Just write to tehem quoting the appropriate acts etc.

They are legally obliged to refund you

RE: Microstar 2.2ghz PC at PC World

I got the 2GHz version of this pc last month.

It is an excellent system and performs really well. The graphics are not onboard - it is a Nvidia Geforce 4 MX card with TV out.

My advice is get it!!

VCDs for Bush 2004 and Hitachi DV-P305e

Does anyone know any brands of cd-r/cd-rw that can be burnt as a vcd and work ok in the above players.

I have tried a couple of brands and although they play, they tend to be a bit jerky and keeping jumping. I have tried the same cd-r in a Aiwa 370 and it works fine.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Cheers,

RE: Man United Membership only £18 - what a bargain

I can buy several tins of paint and watch them dry on the wall.

Much better vlaue for money!!

RE: Microstar P4 2GHz £799 at PC WORLD

gav2208,

Where did you get this machine from?

RE: Fire Wire Connection

Thanks Chris,

How do you rate Pinnacles Studio DV? Does it cater for most of the standard functions you need?

Cheers

Fire Wire Connection

On most digital camcorders there is a DV output.
Is this another name for a firewire port? I.e. can you connect this port to a firewire port on a pc?

RE: DVD Crave : mid-year sale + another 15% off

Shipping is A$5.50 which is about £2.

Delivery is usally excellent.

The last three times I have used them they have deliverd within the same week.

Customs limit is around £36 (I think!) because DVD crave mark the package as a gift.

It is £18 if it is not marked as a gift

RE: Microstar P4 2GHz £799 at PC WORLD

Did anybody get this?

It is virtually as good as the ALDI deal last month if you include the monitor.

RE: Sony HTK-215. DTS or not ?

It depends on the film really. Action/sci-fi movies tend to sound a little better on DTS but there isn`t as great deal in it. I remember somebody describing the two formats as DTS being a loud American and 5.1 being a refined English gentleman!!

You can easily switch between the two by going to the laungaues menu option but not all dvds have a DTS track. Look out for the logos on the back cover.

RE: Sony HTK-215. DTS or not ?

Yes - definately does DTS. I have one and it decodes DTS fine.
As long as your dvd player outputs a dts signal, the sony htk-215 will decode it.

RE: ALDI Computer @ £699

They are selling 17" monitors for £99 so I wouldn`t have thought they would make too much of a killing on those.

p.s. I persume the £699 is inclusive of VAT??

ALDI Computer @ £699

Aldi have pcs for £699 with the following spec.

- Pentium 4 2.0GHz processor
- Nvidia Geforce 4 MX 460 graphics cards with TV out and video in
- Sony CD re-writer 24max/10x/40max
- 16x DVD ROM
- Seagate 80GB hard drive
- 256MB DDR SDRAM
- 6 channel audio controller
- Firewire 1x front and 2x rear
- USB 2x front and 2x rear
- Whole host of other connections
- Software bundle of Windows XP, Word, Autoroute, Encarta Atlas, Picture it, Microsoft Money and 6 professional video and audio programmes
- 12 month warranty

I looked at the components for this system on ebuyer and can`t get anywhere near it.

Anybody know why they are so cheap and if they are ok??

I read on older threads that ALDI have had a good pc deal before. Did anybody got one - what was it like?

Cheers

RE: DVDimport anyone had problems?

Sometimes good, sometimes c**p sums them up.

I have ordred DVDs off them which have taken a few days but my latest order, Moulin Rouge, has taken nearly a month and no sign yet!!

I e-mailed them and they say that orders to the UK get shipped to Belgium first and then on from there. Normal expected delivery is 14 days but it could take up to a month!!

RE: Harry Potter DVD

"Sorry, just found out it`s PAN & SCAN !!!!"

Could somebody educate a novice as to what Pan & Scan means and why it should be binned??

Cheers
