RE: Philips Hack

If I understand it you can change your player from one code to another using the Philips remote, but only 25 times as the machine then locks up.

Using a oneforall remote you can set it to `region free` which means it will play any dvd. The instructions can be found in `Multi-Region Hacks` under `info` on the left.

I tried it recently and it works perfectly.

Philips 711

At last! I found a region 4 that would not play on my region 2 machine. I have had a oneforall remote (URC-7562) hanging around just waiting.

The instructions worked a treat, I now have a region free player. Many thanks for the info.

Kylie going cheap!

RE: Dolby digital surrond sound bargain at Currys.

Actually, I found Curry`s staff very courteous and helpful when I was looking for one. I phoned several stores in my quest and they were all able to advise me of the availability in other stores, reserve the goods for me to collect later etc, etc.

Satisfied Customer.

RE: Whats the last DVD everyone bought?

Shrek & Walking with Dinosaurs - both Christmas pressies!

RE: Dolby digital surrond sound bargain at Currys.

I am very pleased with mine. Probably the best bargain I`ve had - thanks presa!

RE: Dolby digital surrond sound bargain at Currys.

I am getting pro-logic sound via my ntl box with the audio leads plugged into the telly.

Btw I`ve still got the sub-woofer right behind the telly with no picture distortion so it seems it must have magnetic sheilding?!

RE: Dolby digital surrond sound bargain at Currys.

Mine `clicked in` ok and works a treat. Surely if you can find one anywhere in Currys/Dixons they will post it? Any branch can check the stock at other branches so you should be able to find one (if there are any left!).

Good luck!

RE: Dolby digital surrond sound bargain at Currys.

Just got mine. It`s actually very good! Top bargain methinks!

RE: Dolby digital surrond sound bargain at Currys.

Thanks, this seems just what I was after! Seriously `budget` and without another box to cram under the telly.

They only had ex-display models in Oxfordshire but I found a new one in Southampton, where my brother lives. So I got him to `pick one up` and apparently it was very heavy!!

There is a review here: http://www.home-entertainment.co.uk/grouptest_read.asp?GroupID=739&ArticleID=743

I`ll post again when I`ve had a play with it.
