RE: Good Budget DVD players

Hi Stephen,

Im pretty much like yourself when it comes to buying/selecting something new and at a low price. I have just bought the Cyber Home ADL528 DVD Player from Richer Sounds. This player is VERY GOOD!! For the money that is!!. £99.00 for a multi region player, which produces fantastic quality both in visual and audio. Build quality is ok too. The drive makes a little noise when inserted and a very quite rotaing noise when playing but nothing to be so concerned about.
You can go to their website www.richersounds.com, but please bear in mind that the guys from the website are very slow at processing orders. So if you have a store nearby, to check this one out, go take a look! Stay away from the Daewoo and Scan`s players, the looks are ok but the quality of the AV is not so good.

RE: Scan`s Today Only offers....MUST try harder!

I had alot of trouble geting my money back from this company. I ordered one of these "One day offers" and used my VISA card to pay. It was a very good price at the time, even with delivery. But, no fault of SCAN, the motherboard was faulty, I presumed that it was the CPU fan controller on the motherboard, as the fan kept stopping! I sent this back to scan with their RMA number. It took them 1 week to accept the RMA number on the website, 3 weeks to find out what was the problem, and then a further 2 weeks to get my money refunded!!

They even said they refunded back to my VISA when they hadn`t. My VISA company clarified this.I even got my VISA card company to look into the refund from SCAN, as your protected upto around £35,000 should a compnay run away with your cash. I finally got the refund after been on the telephone for hours, and lost £10 on delivery. Not very good at all!

SCAN: Your products are cool, but learn something about customer service, quickly!!

PS. It was the fan controller on the motherboard!!!

I`ve just ordered the Cyberhome AD-L528 player from Richer Sounds for £99.00 + £8.99 postage. I hope that this comes quicker than the above coments. I have dealt with them before in a local store here in Sheffield, and found them extremely helpful and honest with their products. They knocked off a whopping £40.00 from a £99 Sony cd player, and a great price on Eltax speakers after presenting the WHAT-HIFI magazine. About prices been cheaper on the internet than in the store; well of course they will do this, they have minimal cost through internet sales, and it does pay to buy the magazines as its like a big voucher!! As to the website, I totally agree that this could do with sorting out. The menu system is stupid and dosn`t always work well, and yes is very slow, but it does the job and will continue to shop at Richers.
